Guided tours are a great way to explore the various attractions of Jamaica more so if you are a first time visitor to the island. Most of the attractions are located in the north coast so it makes sense to set base here. There are several scenically located Jamaica rentals that are a convenient distance for day trips to these places.

While in Jamaica, here are some guided tours you can consider to explore the best of what the island has to offer.

Accompong Maroon Tour: The tour is a must for the history enthusiasts. Jamaica had to for some time bear the brunt of slavery and to know more about the difficult era and the ensuing struggle for freedom, you can opt for this tour that takes you to some villages in the southeast of Montego Bay. You can meet villagers and tour the historic sites related to the Maroons, who were the descendants of runaway slaves.

Blue and John Crow Mountains National Park: The park is home to the largest peak on the island, the Blue Mountain peak at 7,402 feet above sea level. The mountains are perpetually shrouded in mist that give them the bluish colour and so the name. The Blue Mountain and John Crow Mountain National Park spreads across 194,000 acres. It was established in 1992 to preserve some of the remaining forests and to protect the island's largest watershed.

Blue Lagoon: The Blue Lagoon is not the one of the movie fame but is equally beautiful. You can admire the shimmering 200-feet deep swimming hole with the colours of the water ranging from cobalt blue to the emerald green.

Bob Marley Museum: No visit to Jamaica can be complete without paying a tribute to its great music legend, Bob Marley. If you are a reggae fan, you have to visit this museum in Kingston that houses memorabilia related to the great composer and singer.

Dolphins Cove at Treasure Reef: Located near Dunn's River Falls, Dolphins Cove is a marine park that promises fun for the entire family. You can swim with two lovable bottleneck dolphins and if you want an adrenalin rush swim with some trained nurse sharks.

Black River Safari: Most of Jamaica's rivers are navigable and open up vistas for innumerable water activities such as bamboo rafting and white water rafting
. You can also enjoy a Black River Safari that allows you to view the varied flora and fauna on the shoreline as you pass by on the river. Some trips are not meant for the children and so if you are traveling with small kids, you could do well to stay in family-friendly rentals such as Silver Sands villas Jamaica that provide childcare facilities and also have a separate play area for kids to keep them happy and occupied.
