India is not only known for the majestic Taj Mahal. It is also starting to make a name in the steel and telecommunication industries. By exploring India’s Steel City, you also get to enjoy a weekend stay in their hotels at a very affordable rate.

Jamshedpur, India’s greenest, cleanest and still the most industrialized city was founded by Jamshedji Nausherwanji Tata. The area surrounding the city is rich in manganese, coal, iron and calcium oxide. This is the very reason the founder was able to make his dream of building a great city come true.

It gained international acclaim when they received the 2004 Global Compact City Award. The city’s main industries include iron and steel, trucking, tinplate manufacturing and cement. Tatanagar, as what locals call the city, is rich in luscious garden and amusement parks. Tourists swarm the place especially during May until September when the climate is more pleasant.

The city boasts of a number of recreational tourist spots that include Jubilee Park, where you will delight at the sight of a rose garden and a fountain where the water flows even during the night. The Dimna Lake is where the city gets their drinking water.

The Tata Steel Zoological Park features a safari tour near the steel plant. The Keenan Stadium is where cricket sports are played. The Dalma Hills is where you can find herds of elephants and a good site for trekking as well as mountaineering.

Ghatshila is a copper factory with a very captivating scenery. And the very famous picnic spot, the “Domuhani,” is where the two rivers meet. See how the city balances its industry with nature.
