Flying Versus Driving

There are many reasons why flying on an airplane beats driving any day of the week. For one thing, flying is significantly faster than driving and therefore, it takes less time to achieve. Additionally, in some instances (especially during times when gas prices are extremely high), flying makes more sense. The only downside to flying comes when you are deathly afraid of rocketing through the air at a high rate of speed. However, there is no need to be afraid to fly.

For many people (my boyfriend included), flying brings about all sorts of fears related to the unknown. For example, if you are one of those types of people who likes to have control over your transportation, then flying (or any form of mass transportation) may not be your thing. Flying also brings about other various psychological issues. For instance, you cannot really see where you are going when you are thousands of feet above the ground, flying through the sky. For this reason, people get nervous because they wind up thinking to themselves all sorts of things such as, “What if we collide with something else in the sky?” “What is separating us from the ground right now?”

If you think long and hard about it, you could probably work up enough anxiety over just about anything. Many people don t realize it, but in a lot of cases, it is actually that much more dangerous to drive on a roadway with other vehicles than it is to fly; and this is due to the fact that when you are driving along a roadway, there is significantly more traffic surrounding you and coming in from all sorts of directions versus flying. Today, if you want to be able to relax and enjoy yourselves while traveling, then flying is most definitely the way to go about doing it; There aren t as many planes in the air as there are cars on the roads!

Driving is dangerous. Not that long ago, my boyfriend and I were coming back from spending time with his parents. We left his parents house pretty late around 1am or so. We were preparing to drive through an intersection and were the third car in line to go through the light when out of nowhere, the car opposite of us just decided to try to cut us off to make their turn or perhaps something else. However, for whatever reason as well as due to the fact that we were already in the intersection traveling straight while this other person was traveling south, we noticed (after our close encounter) that driver of the other vehicle was clearly intoxicated and or on some sort of drugs. On top of that, this person also had a small car jam packed with people, so I am sure that the extra bodies in the vehicle caused him to lose his concentration.

Again, if you have the time, opportunity and dollar sense, if you can, try to reserve a plane flight and save your car the hassle of driving around. You ll be thankful in the end.
