Greenville is a fascinating city in South Carolina that has a lot to offer, starting from its event venues to several world renowned landmarks. It also houses several hotels.

Greenville is considered a mid sized city in South Carolina. It is Greenville County s county seat. It has a population of about 56,006 as of year 2000. It belongs to the upstate region of South Carolina. It is also halfway between Charlotte, North Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia.

Several attractions and activities are seen and enjoyed here that one may experience only in upstates. In fact, the event venues and theaters of Greenville frequently host theater tours as well as major concerts. There are even independent theaters where many stage productions are held annually.

There are many different event venues here and some deserve special mention. One is the Bi Lo Center situated in downtown Greenville. It is a 16,000 seat arena that hosts sporting events and major concerts annually.
There is also the Carolina First Center. This was previously known as The Palmetto Expo Center, South Carolina’s largest convention center and one amongst the largest along the East Coast. Several conventions, trade shows and events are held here annually.

The Peace Center is a performing arts center, showcasing touring Broadway shows, civic events, concerts and symphonies. Aside from being the home of the Carolina Ballet Theater, Greenville Chorale ad the Greenville Symphony Orchestra, it is internationally known for its excellent acoustics.
Also worth noting is The Warehouse Theater. This is a lack box theater situated along the Historic West End. It has been in operation for more than 32 years.

Center Stage, the Professional Theater of Greenville is regarded as a year round professional theater which annually hosts the New Play Festival, drawing hundreds of playwright submissions from around the country as well as abroad.

Greenville also houses several famous landmarks. One of these is the Greenville County Museum of Art. It specializes on American Art dating back to the early 1700s. It is regarded for the work collections of Jasper Johns and Andrew Wyeth.

The Falls Park on the Reedy is a huge regional park situated along the West End. It has several waterfalls and beautiful gardens. This park is the home of the Liberty Bridge which is a pedestrian suspension bridge that overlooks the Reedy River.

There is also the Bob Jones University Museum and Gallery that actually houses a collection of religious art. It is situated by the Bob Jones University campus.

Next is the Roper Mountain Science Center, a good resource for area students. It is also home to South Carolina s largest planetarium. And then there is the Greenville Zoo found in Cleveland Park.

There are also various events worth catching here in Greenville, like the St. Francis Fall. This is a major festivity held every 2nd weekend of October. It showcases live performances, local cuisines and a Greenville Cycling Classic bicycle race.

InnoVenture is held every March to accommodate Communities of Innovation around universities, corporations as well as emerging companies within the Southeastern Innovation Corridor.

Art in the Park is presented by the Upstate Visual Arts as a major arts festival held in Fluor Field along the West End.

The Red Party is a yearly dance party that happens at Upcountry’s History Museum. This is a fundraiser project for the AID Upstate which is an AIDS Service Organization that serves Upstate South Carolina.

Reedy River Run is a 10 kilometer race that happens by the latter part of February to the early part of March. It is always a well attended event for runners.
