Soon after the fort was closed, the town of Casper founded itself quite properly and it started developing as a major point for stoppage during the development of Wyoming Central Railway.

The Beartrap Summer Festival is presented by the Natrona County Road, Bridge & Parks Department along with Clear Channel Radio.It takes place during the third weekend of the month of July.This is the location where a range of local and national level bluegrass bands perform their talents.
