In the Autonomous Community of Valencia you will find the Spanish city of Valencia. This beautiful city has many interesting places for you to visit. You will also find many festivals to enjoy provided that you come to Valencia during these times. One important festival that you will find taking place in the city is that of the Falles. This festival which lasts for 5 days from the 15th of March until the 19th has everyone in Valencia celebrating quite joyously. During the festival you will able to enjoy eating the traditional dish of Valencia. This is paella in its many versions.
Another interesting festival that you will find in Valencia is that of La Tomatina. This festival is hosted by the nearby Buńol. This festival takes place on the last Wednesday of August. During the festival you will find a number – somewhere in the thousands perhaps – throwing ripe tomatoes at each other. As the outcome of the festival will leave you covered in rich tomatoes you may want to see about wearing clothes that you can throw away without any regrets.
While visiting the city during the festival is fantastic you will find there are many other wonderful places for you to visit while you are here. Of these places you might want to see about visiting the Seu. This is a curious looking cathedral which has three doors which have been styled according to the architectural styles that can be found in three distinct periods. You will find that walking up to the Micalet tower which used to be Moorish you will be able to see a stunning view of the city.
Once you have finished looking around the Seu Cathedral you might want to head over to the Ciutat de les Arts i les Cičncies (City of Arts and Science) of Valencia. You will find this city of Arts and Sciences located where the old Turia River used to flow. Here in this city you will have the chance of looking at the stars from the Planetarium, see the science exhibits at the Science Museum, or even watch a movie at the IMAX cinema which is located in this “City of Arts and Science”. The city is quite famous for its architecture which was done by Santiago Calatrava.
Of course if you prefer to see some of the beauties of nature you might want to head over to Albufera which is not too far from Valencia. This is a fresh water lake where you will see a number of gorgeous birds including that of migratory birds that come here during their migration routes. The lands which are surrounding the lake have been cultivated with rice. While you here in Albufera you might want to head over to El Palmer where you can take the time to savor some of the local dishes including that of paella.
