Jamshedpur – a Spectacular Industrial City

Jamshedpur is one of the oldest planned cities of India founded by Jamshedji Nusserwanji Tata. The city has acquired the position of an important business and industrial city of Jharkhand State. It is located in the Eastern part of Singhbhum district on Chota Nagpur plateau. The city was named after Tata Steel s founder, in order to pay tributes to this legendry industrialist in 1919.

Jamshedpur is an important industrial city and it is situated at an altitude of 159 meters above sea level. The city is stretched over an area of about 3533 square kilometers with a population of about 5, 73,096. The city of Jamshedpur is situated amidst the most beautiful and picturesque surroundings. It also exhibits a chain of industries with several medium and small scale industries.

In spite of being an industrial town, Jamshedpur has a range of natural scenic beauty and marvelous landscapes. It is recognized as a hill station and it is surrounded by the Dolma hills. The city has not to miss attractions in form of parks such as Jubilee Park, Tata Steel Zoological Park, Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary and lakes such as Dimna Lake, Hudko Lake etc.

Dimna Lake is one of the most sought after tourist destinations in the state. This artificial lake is situated at just about thirteen kilometers from the city limits at the foot hills of the Dalma ranges. The lake acts as an important water reservoir for the city and for the steel plant. The most pristine and serene atmosphere of Dalma Hills will help you to relieve all stresses of your daily busy life.

The lake is an important weekend getaway as it offers an ideal setting for boating and other aquatic sports. This pristine lake gives an exotic view to its guest by exhibiting vast clean and clear blue water with the reflections of Dalma Hills. The park was established on March 3, 1994. The aim behind establishing this zoological park is to provide a place for recreation, research and conservation and also for breeding various wild animals, birds and aquatic animals. The park also houses a safari park within the premises exhibiting some gorgeous views of wild life in their natural habitat. This is like a treat for the people who love to spend their day amidst natural beauty and greenery.
