Traveling by RV is a fun, safe way to spend time in the great outdoors, see the country and still enjoy some of the creature comforts of home. Now is the perfect time for taking a RV trip to Texas. For much of the year, the weather in Texas is nice. Like any place on earth, there are occasional patches of rainy, cold or bad weather. Overall, Texas is a place that you can visit year round. You don't have to be a tourist to enjoy traveling around Texas in your RV.

RV travel makes road trips into fun adventures filled with great scenery, food and lots of excitement. What makes RV travel in Texas so much fun? Well, for starters plan on visiting as many state parks as your schedule permits. Just for fun, why not forget your travel itinerary and just go with the flow. State parks are definitely "bigger" and "better" in Texas. Texas is home to over 120 state parks, and make sure to stop by the state's other natural historic sites.

State parks allow travelers to park their RV for a few nights or a couple of days. Or if you also tow your car with your RV, you can stay at the campground for as long as you want. Most Texas state parks offer campgrounds with electric and water hook-ups. If you don't fancy the outdoors all that much, well you are in luck. The parks also offer excellent lodging facilities for those who simply wish to park their RVs. If you are traveling to a State Park like Yellowstone in the off season- there are smaller crowds and you will feel like you have a private sanctuary. There is so much fun stuff to do in Texas, if you are not a nature lover and trekking around the great outdoors doesn't suit your fancy.

Next stop, follow the wine trail. Texas has some of the finest wine makers in the country. Harvest time is usually late fall, and you can plan to spend your entire day sampling fine wine or nibbling on bread and cheese on wine tours.

If you are traveling in Texas during the Christmas season, don't forget to head on over to Texas Hill country for the regional Christmas lightning trail. Texas Hill is located about 1 mile to the north of Johnson City, Texas. The Christmas tree lighting season actually begins on the 20th of November. You can travel in your RV nightly down this trail of Christmas lights and delights, featuring over 300,000 lights. Go for the lights, but plan on staying for a few nights to enjoy the nearby art galleries, restaurants featuring Texas size servings on the menu and a whole host of unique boutiques and shops.

RV travel throughout Texas is a great way to enjoy wonderful sightseeing opportunities and travel along scenic highways, while not having to worry about lodging. Unless, you want to that is, otherwise RVs make Texas an idyllic travel destination.

Another fun thing about RV travel in Texas is that you get to create your own adventures, instead of sticking to a planned sightseeing tour.
