If you are planning a trip to Jamaica and are interested in doing something that is really adventurous, you can include swimming with the dolphins in your itinerary. After a brief lecture from the animal trainers, jump right into the water. Once you are in, these lovable creatures will swim right besides you, clap, dance and even kiss your cheeks. As you start floating, they'll push their snouts on your feet and propel you forward. Higher and higher you will go and once you start relaxing and enjoying the swim, the animal trainer will blow the whistle and instantly they will turn back and leave you with your feet a wee bit soar and pulses racing.
At this marine park, you can go along a rainforest trail and even cuddle an iguana or wrap a yellow boa constrictor around your neck.
As already mentioned, Ocho Rios is the island's best known tourist site. Aside from swimming with the dolphins, you can also climb up the steps of the Dunn's River Falls. This waterfall is unique in that the water gushes over a series of protruding rocks before winding its way into the sea. These rocks form a natural staircase and you can join a human chain stumbling and balancing on its way to the top. Needless to say, the views from the top are well worth each step that you take. You can also explore the nearby Grotto Caves that are believed to have sheltered Arawak Indians, the island's original inhabitants, hundreds of years ago as also smugglers, runaways and slaves over the centuries.
You can be near all the fun by staying in Ocho Rios apartments, housed within an apartment complex of four towers, overlooking a large swimming pool, in a secure, gated compound on the Ocho Rios Bay.
