Bloody Bay
The bay gets its name from the time when whalers butchered their catch here. The bay was also a popular pirates' hangout area in the 1700s. It is believed that it is here on the bay that Calico Jack Rackham and his two female consorts were captured.
Today, Bloody Bay is a calm, white sandy stretch of a beach. A large portion of it is still undeveloped and there is a jungle that runs right to the beach. You'll come across numerous vendors selling food and drinks and other knick-knacks. In fact, you can really get great buys here provided you are good at bargaining.
Also on the bay, you'll find the Office of Nature, a famous beachfront open air eatery where you can enjoy fresh lobster, caught offshore during lobster season and cooked over an open fire as you wait. When lobsters aren't in season, fresh fish is prepared.
Seven Mile Beach
The name of the beach is a bit misleading in that it actually spread across four miles. However, it is the most sought out beach in Jamaica, given the fact that it has been voted consistently as one of the best beaches in the world. Starting at Point Village between Bloody Bay and Long Way it continues right up to where the cliffs begin.
The water is warm and calm and is perfect for swimming. Besides, you can try your skills at a number of water sports, both motorized and non-motorized, as also go paragliding.
The beach is dotted with vendors selling food and drinks as also hair braiding services. You'll also be offered illicit drugs, but realize that contrary to rumors, possessing drugs in Jamaica is illegal and you can be imprisoned if caught.
If you want to dine in more formal surroundings, you can head to any of the popular bars and restaurants located nearby. The road parallel to the beach is lined with small stalls selling Jamaica's favourite delight, jerked chicken and jerked pork, a spicy meal had with the island's own beer, Red Stripe.
Negril is a great place to relax, reconnect, rejuvenate in the serenity of nature and in Jamaican accommodation rentals, offering great services, peace, privacy and space at really affordable costs.
